Natural Hair Care Update & Upcoming Reviews
I've neglecting my hair these days. So I'm making a resolution to pick up where I left off, and to try to get back on track with trying out different products that may or may not work for my hair.
So far these are my staples:
Suave Naturals Coconut Conditioner (co-wash)
Castile Soap mixed with Jojoba and EVOO (shampoo)
Kinky Curly Knot Today (leave-in conditioner, for wash in go's)
Giovanni Direct Leave-In (leave-in conditioner)
Kinky Curly Curling Custard (styling, for wash in go's)
Eco Styling Gel (styling)
Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayonnaise mixed with EVOO and honey (deep conditioner)
Organix Coconut Milk Conditioner (co-wash or deep conditioner)
Shea butter and coconut oil mixture (2 strand twist out)
Miss Jessie's Buttercream (2 strand twists, twist outs, finger coils)
These are a few that haven't worked for me:
Jane Carter's Nourishing Shampoo
Organix Shea Butter Shampoo (works okay with the conditioner, but don't use too often)
Carol's Daughter Hair Milk (may re-visit after my hair grows out a bit longer)
Mixed Chicks (YIKES! )
I've tried quite a few products, which is why I had to slow down for a minute. After reading a post over at Mane and Chic, I decided that I would pic a few of the treatments and deep conditioners from the list and try them out. I really need to work on keeping my fro moisturized, especially during the upcoming winter months. NO MORE WASH-IN-GO'S!!! Well, I'll just say that I will cut back on those. Not trying to be at home sick from trying to look cute. And a runny nose is NOT cute! *sorry for the visual*
Will post tomorrow.
Will probably use this as a deep conditioner. Review coming soon.

May 4th Hair Update
So far, I just change up my hair regimen every other day, depending upon how I'm feeling and how I want my hair to feel. If I'm going for the soft curly look, I pull out the shea butter and coconut oil mixture or Giovanni's Direct Leave In Conditioner. But on my lazy days, I just stick with my good ol Kinky Curly products which I love. I do want to try Miss Jessie's maybe next week...that stuff is expensive, but from what I'm hearing, it's worth it.
I haven't posted pics since the bantu knots tutorial, so I'll try to get a few up by the end of the week. It's gotten harder for me to update the blog because...
1) I don't have internet access at home. (I know don't laugh...getting it soon though...real soon.)
2) The only time I can update is when I'm at work...self explanatory.
and 3) I forget sometimes *shrugs* don't judge me.
But I'm going to try to be a bit more persistent in posting for those who are interested in the natural hair updates.
More coming soon...promise!

TUTORIAL: Two Strand Bantu Knots
Ok, so I'm sitting at home bored on a Friday night (3 am Saturday morning to be exact) I'm decide to do a little experimentation. Previously, I had seen a youtube tutorial done by the lovely SimplYounique and I made a vow that when my hair grew out a little longer that I would try them. And so the story goes...
First, I started to wet my hair with my spritz (made of water, EVOO, and coconut oil). Then I parted each section with my hands and clipped them. I did 2 strand twists for each section and twisted them, wrapping each one around itself and secured with a bobby pin.

After that, I just tied my hair up with a satin scarf took my butt to sleep!
Woke up the next morning and after a vigourous workout, it was time to tackle the knots. First, I wet my hands with EVOO just so my unravelling the twist wouldn't cause them to frizz. When I unravelled, I tried to undo them at the point were the 2 strands meet. Then I would separate more, only because I like a bit more volume with my hair. After that, I wanted to add a bit more moisture, so I sprayed with my homemade spritz. MAYBE that was a bad idea. I think the water caused it to frizz up a bit, but I still loved the results.

I think next time, I'm going to co-wash and put in a direct leave-in conditioner (love Giovanni ;-) just to help with the moisture. They lasted for remainder of the weekend, just tie up at night and in the morning pick out with your fingers and you're all set. Probably would've lasted longer, but because I work out, the sweat caused it to frizz like a mug!!
If you decide to try it, let me know how it turns out!
xoxo-Krys.
